Ceramic pipes arranged in the corner of a room

A memory, which consolidates the sonic environment with the architectural remnants of a pumping station, not explicitly, rather hazily and in the periphery. A myth, which depicts a fragile relationship and a power struggle. Pipes are made to carry water once again, but no longer physically, rather as a history which resonates in the material itself.

Nine students of the KHM seminar "in situ_in between" (Prof. Frauke Eckhardt) occupy the former pump station of the Kunstverein Rhein-Sieg-Kreis with interactive sound installations, site-specific sound sculptures, and an audio walk.

In intensive engagement with the medium of sound and the existing soundscape, everyday, social, historical, and architectural aspects of the Kunstverein were artistically explored and aesthetically condensed in heterogeneous focal points.

The presented audiovisual works open up possibilities for sensory exploration of the space and reflection on one's individual position, translating temporal traces into extended contexts of meaning, interpreting and staging the real space through fiction, or exploring aspects of the physicality of architecture.

The exhibition WAVING invites, with a wave, to discover the sounds of the former pump station and perhaps to rediscover one's own way of listening.
